Welcome to Oxhey First School

Dear parents and carers,

I am delighted to welcome you to our friendly and caring school. There is something very special about Oxhey and we are incredibly proud of our unique children, supportive parents, inspirational staff, forward thinking governors and dedicated PTFA. We all work in collaboration to make our school a safe, happy and vibrant place to learn and thrive.

At Oxhey we have high expectations of ourselves and our children. The challenges that we set the pupils show them that we believe they can achieve them, instilling the confidence and ambition to do so. We provide an excellent foundation for our children to develop as individuals and are committed to enabling all pupils to fulfil their potential. We encourage them to grow personally, socially and morally, as well as academically.

The aim of our provision is to encourage and foster an inquisitive nature and a love for learning. We believe that this is the key to success. We have a great deal of fun in our learning, whether in the classroom or outdoors, on visits or during themed learning days. Our dedicated, hardworking team of staff deliver an exciting and broad curriculum whilst bringing our aims and values to life. It is very important to us that the children make lots of wonderful memories to take away with them.

Together, we work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure our pupils gain value, knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help them become resilient, motivated life-long learners and responsible citizens of the future. We firmly believe in building strong, positive relationships between our pupils, parents, governors and the community.

We have also formalised our partnership with Knypersley First School, Kingsfield First School and Reginald Mitchell Primary school by joining the Children First Learning Partnership Multi Academy Trust on 1st April 2019.  Since this date Springhead Primary, Castlechurch Primary and Marlfields Primary have joined our CFLP family. We believe by doing so it will offer further opportunities to work collaboratively on a wide range of projects involving our staff, children, local advisory board members and parents, add capacity to our school leadership, research provision and provide financial efficiencies.
We hope you enjoy browsing the website and if you wish for paper copies of any documents then please contact the school office. Our children are wonderful ambassadors, so if you would like to know more about our school then please book a visit. They would be delighted to show you around and introduce you to everyone who makes Oxhey such a ‘happy place to learn and grow’.

Warm wishes,

Mrs Lorraine Jukes

🖼 Celebrating Oxhey's Amazing Art Gallery 🖼

🎨 Many, many thanks to everyone for visiting our wonderful art gallery yesterday afternoon!

🖼 By transforming our hall into a professional gallery space, our pupils were able to share, reflect on and discuss their work and that of others in a meaningful way.

💚 It was wonderful to see so many families!

🎨 We could see how it made strong contributions to our children's personal development; building confidence, pride and self-esteem as we celebrated and valued every painting or collage.

🎨 Well done to all our amazing artists!

If you were unable to attend, but would still like to purchase your child's artwork, you can still do so until Friday 15th May. Details will be sent via Arbor.

Online grooming is a serious and growing threat, with offenders using a range of tactics to build trust with children and young people before exploiting that relationship.

This can happen across social media, gaming platforms, messaging apps and group chats, often through fake identities, flattery, gifts or pressure.

Our latest #WakeUpWednesday guide highlights key risks, including:
• Strangers using fake identities
• Exploitation through gifts and flattery
• Group chats creating hidden pathways
• Gaming platforms becoming grooming gateways
• Sextortion, criminal grooming and radicalisation

The guide also offers practical advice for parents and educators on recognising warning signs, understanding the platforms children use and creating open, regular conversations.
